About Kelly

At its heart, this blog is about learning. I strive for improvement every day. I look for opportunities to learn or try something new in every area of life with the goal of enhancing my overall well-being.

I began this journey with the passionate belief that if you like the way you look, you feel better on the inside. That led to a love of beauty, fashion and a deep desire to try anything and everything to find out what I should invest in, and who was just peddling pond scum. I love sharing insights and hearing what others think, so I started my YouTube Channel to contribute to the knowledge pool.

Liking how you look and feeling your best has just as much (if not more) to do with your relationship with your body. A long time ago I put most of my energy and focus into being skinny. I tried lots of unhealthy diets and never bothered learning about how to properly nourish and move my body. I felt like the way that I looked and felt was outside of my control, and thought that I constantly had to rein myself in rather than let myself flourish.

In June 2015 I committed to competing in an NPC bikini competition. I spent the following year learning about macronutrient distribution and weight training and competed in May 2016. It was an eye-opening experience about how much I was capable of, both mentally and physically, but it was also draining, unsustainable, and thus discouraging. I had been so focused on building muscles solely for aesthetics that I ignored a much more balanced, holistic approach to my physical well-being. Counting macros had begun to feel obsessive and I didn’t enjoy food the way that I once had.

I left the world of bodybuilding behind and applied myself to learning about movement, muscular imbalances, flexibility, and different forms of exercise that would make me stronger and enable me to experience my body in ways I never had. I earned my personal training certification from NASM in summer 2016. This is a journey; there’s always more to learn!

On my blog I hope that you can all find something to help you with whatever you’re trying to improve on. Leave comments to let me know if there’s any content you’d like to see.
