Make sure you check out Vlogmas Day 5, as it’s definitely one better presented in video format!
For Vlogmas Day 6 I decided to jump ahead in the book Things I Wish My Mother Had Told Me to the part on “How to Look Good.” Van der Post separates this from the section on “How to Wear Clothes,” which speaks to the fact that there actually is a difference.
Wearing clothes, as I’ve been discussing, is more about finding your style and knowing where to invest your money. Looking good, on the other hand, is targeted at attention to the details of personal grooming. In the book, she emphasizes the fact that good grooming (and a killer haircut) can go much further than a new outfit.
I happen to think she’s right.
What good is an Armani pantsuit if you have ragged hair, bad nails, and smell like you’ve just left the gym?
On the other hand, clothes that most of us can more comfortably afford can go a lot further if you’ve taken the time to manicure your hands, give yourself a facial, and keep your hair well-trimmed.
So for Vlogmas Day 6, I show you my starting lineup of self-care products, my trick to using dry shampoo in a pinch, and an unanticipated first impression of a new foundation!
As always, thank you so much for tuning in!
